EXFOLIATION

LOVE

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub
$8.49 (4 oz)

TAYLOR : The goal of an exfoliator is to remove dead skin cells from the outermost surface of the skin. This is often achieved by the use of tiny granules known as “beads.” Exfoliators with larger beads or seeds can sometimes cause tearing on the skin. This particular formula contains jojoba beads—these tiny grains are made from all-natural Jojoba wax esters and won’t cause any damage or irritation. For those of you looking to go the natural route, this product has no harsh chemicals, sulfates, dyes, etc. and it’s decently priced. However, if there’s not enough room in your budget for a good exfoliator that’s fine. Similar results can be achieved by using a small washcloth. Squeeze some of your cleanser onto the washcloth and gently massage your face, focusing particularly on your t-zone and chin. Remember, there is such a thing as exfoliating too much. Most dermatologists recommend you exfoliate no more than 2-3 times a week, if that. Your exfoliator should last you a long time. If your bottle is half-empty two weeks after you bought it, you are over-exfoliating. So stop it.

LUST

Lush Dark Angels
$12.95 (3.5 oz)

ANGELICA : Lush constructed this gentle exfoliant for younger skin that experiences excess oil and blemishes. With all natural ingredients including velvet black sugar and avocado oil, this is a must-have for oily skin that’s also sensitive. Dark Angels is my go-to splurge around inevitable stress periods. Between my hormones and hectic daily schedule, my skin is a wreck about once every month or so. The product is a dark exfoliant that feels abrasive yet gentle simultaneously. It works to remove amounts of excess oil without affecting the natural oils our skin needs to stay beautiful. The only downside is the product has a short 2-month shelf life.

NOTE : For those that are less oily, try Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin.
