Can you tell our readers about where you're from and what you do for a living?
JB : I'm from Waukegan, Illinois, but I moved to Chicago once I began college. Right now I'm working as an Art Director for Beam Suntory. The company houses premium spirit brands like Jim Beam, Pinnacle Vodka, and Justin Timberlake’s tequila, Sauza 901. I also do freelance art direction and graphic design for fashion, music, and art based brands.
If your house was on fire and you could only save three items of clothing, what would you grab?
JB : I probably wouldn’t save any clothing. I would be more concerned about the files on my computer. I would definitely use the insurance money to cop a whole new wardrobe though! LOL
What influences your style and design work the most?
JB : The 1970’s playful embellishment and radical experimentation with form has influenced me a lot. From the over the top colorful patterns, quirky interior design, to the carefree attitudes, I love it all.
I also get really inspired by people who are innovative and have been courageous enough to create their own world through their talents. Tyler, The Creator, Oprah, Leif Podhajsky, and Kanye West have influenced a lot me when it comes to not being afraid to experiment and believing in my vision fully.
Who was been your favorite person or company to work with?
JB : Sonia Kashuk has definitely been my favorite client to work with. They always give me a lot of creative freedom, and allow me to throw fun concepts at them. They’ve been the first big company to really value my work and I’m grateful for that.
Can you describe your everyday outfit/look?
JB : You can normally find me in high waisted black jeans, a vintage patterned jacket, docs/sneakers, and a black fedora. I like to keep it pretty simple, but I always like throw on one standout item to make my outfit pop.
What are you most excited about wearing once summer officially begins?
JB : Well-designed sunglasses are a must. They have the ability to elevate an outfit and make it that much better.
